There is room for everyone to eat. Setting the Table is an exhibition curated by the artist Tyrrell Winston, selected from artwork by twenty-one artists in the PASC program. This show explores art as a form nourishment and the exhibition as a carefully crafted feast for the audience.
Here, the studio represents the test kitchen, a space of exuberance where artists/chefs try new things, experiment with flavor combinations and develop their pallets. Their practice is built, through time, investigation and intentionality. Distinct styles and a breadth of flavor emerge, and with that a sense of individual taste.
The gallery becomes the dining room, a space where the table is set, welcoming anyone to sit down and dine. The audience is invited, to refresh and nourish themselves with this carefully prepared meal.
In describing his curatorial intentions for this show Tyrrell Winston states, “I wanted the work to be colorful and vibrant, in a way that a feast is prepared. Getting introduced to some of the artists in the space, and their energy helped to lead the way for what was selected.”
This exhibition is the final exhibition of our PASC Detroit Pop Up Gallery series at The Vella Group. This exhibition is being sponsored by Batch Brewing Company, the Michigan Arts and Cultural Council and is being presented as part of the 12th annual Detroit Month of Design, a month long series of events taking place across Metro Detroit.
