Vantage Points: PASC at Westland City Hall is the first exhibition by the Progressive Art Studio Collective (PASC) at the Art Gallery at City Hall in Westland, MI. This group exhibition brings 37 artists from all three of PASC’s in-person studios, with several artists exhibiting their artwork publicly for the first time. We are very excited by the opportunity to exhibit in this prominent community arts venue, a partnership between the Three Cities Art Club and the City of Westland, which provides professional gallery space for local artists to showcase their artwork to the Westland public.
The title Vantage Points suggests the underlying goal of this exhibition to present a variety of perspectives and forms of expression that our studio artists generate, and serve to introduce the PASC program to the Westland and greater Western Wayne public. The exhibition will feature a wide range of artworks from paintings, to watercolors, collages and drawings, in many different styles, from abstract to realist artwork, distinguished by their vibrant colors, gestural mark-making and free flowing line work. The subject matter of the artwork ranges from reproductions of famous paintings, to Animalier (pictures of animals), to more abstract or pattern based artworks.
PASC was launched in January 2021 as the first progressive art and design studio in Detroit and Wayne County dedicated to supporting adults with developmental disabilities and mental health needs to advance independent artistic practices and individual career paths in the art and design fields. PASC runs three studios in Westland, Detroit and Southgate, Michigan, as well as a virtual art studio program, and we support over 100 artists across Wayne County. PASC is a program of Services to Enhance Potential (STEP) a non-profit service organization, founded in 1972, that provides services and supports for 1300+ individuals with disabilities and mental health issues across Southeastern Michigan.
