Deanna Poppenger

Deanna is a Canton-based artist working out of the PASC Westland studio. Her artwork is defined by layers of graffiti-like repeated mark-making. Her earliest artworks feature mostly shapes such as circles and sometimes squares layered over top of each other. But as her practice has grown she has been incorporating a more complex visual vocabulary of letters and full words, sometimes her name, the word mom, the names of others in her life and seemingly random letters and numbers. Her pieces are created by layering acrylic or ink over vivid watercolor washes.
She has exhibited at the annual exhibit at Art Gallery at Westland City Hall, Westland, MI (2024/2023/2025); MOCAD, Detroit, MI (2023-2024); Madison Heights Civic Center, Madison Heights, MI (2023); PASC Detroit Pop Up Gallery, At The Vella Group, Detroit, MI (2022). Her artworks have been featured at the art fairs Open Invitational, Miami, FL (2024) and NADA presented by White Columns Gallery, Miami, FL (2024).
