Introductions, is an exhibition featuring a selection of portraits by PASC artists in painting and drawing media, of people and animals, real, shamanistic and fanciful. This exhibition, featuring 34 artworks, presents the variety of ways artists express individual personalities, whether emotive like Jerri Burks' portrait of Dr Martin Luther King in watercolor and ink, or winsome such as Scott Maciejewski's "Tiger" in acrylic paint. Each piece expresses both the unique style of each artists while capturing the subtle character of their subjects.
This exhibition is also the inaugural exhibition in our new PASC Southgate gallery and studio. PASC Southgate is our first stand-alone gallery and studio space, fully open to the public. With this gallery we aim to impact the downriver arts community giving the art of disabled adults more exposure and representation.
PASC was launched in January 2021 as the first progressive art and design studio in Detroit and Wayne County working with disabled artists to advance their independent artistic practices and individual career paths in the art and design fields. PASC is a program of Services to Enhance Potential (STEP) a non-profit service organization, founded in 1972, that provides services and supports for 1300+ individuals with disabilities and mental health issues in Southeastern Michigan.
