Major Washington-Hill

Major is a Detroit-based artist creating out of the PASC Detroit Studio. An artist since childhood, his artwork continues to evolve. Deeply inspired by the rhythm and soul of Detroit neighborhoods, Major’s work pays homage to the musical greats of the ’80s and ’90s—soul, R&B, and hip-hop legends brought to life through expressive portraiture. He features his favorite artists such as Anita Baker, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg in his drawings and paintings, guided by the moods and memories their music evokes during the creative process. Working primarily with graphite pencils, charcoals, watercolors, and acrylics, Major explores other textures utilizing palette knives or other artist tools.
Major has exhibited at the PASC Detroit Gallery, Detroit, MI (2024). His artwork has also been featured in art fairs such as Open Invitational, Miami, FL (2024).
